Benue flood committee distributes relief materials








The Flood Committee and Emergency Control headed by The state Deputy Governor Engr. Benson Abounu yesterday symbolically distributed relief materials to the affected 21 local Government areas in Benue State.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the committee with the Chairmen of the affected local Governments and the security agencies in the state.

Engr. Abounu stated that, the state government share the pains of all the flood victims and would give any support to ensure they are comforted, he stressed that the Relief materials sent in through the state government either by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), the Federal Government, Cooperate bodies or NGOs is not only meant for the Makurdi IDPs alone and would be shared to all the affected local government areas in  the state.

Responding on behalf of the Council Chairmen, the Guma local government chairman who doubles as the ALGON Chairman Hon. Anthony Shawon thank those who have contributed in one way or the other to support the flood victims by either cash donations or relief materials.

Hon. Shawon particularly heaped praises on President Muhammadu Buhari and  Gov. Samuel Ortom for responding swiftly to ensure the victims are very comfortable during this period of flood disaster.

The ALGON Chairman expressed delight and satisfaction with the work done by the committee. He also commended SEMA boss Hon. Boniface Ortese and his team for the selfless service and pray God to reward them abundantly.

The 21 affected local government areas in the state include; Makurdi, Guma, Buruku, Agatu, Gwer-East, Gwer-West, Vandeikya, Kwande, Apa, Ohimini, Oju, Katsina-Ala, Obi, Ogbadibo, Logo, Ushongu, Tarka, Ukum, Konshisha, Otukpo and Okpoku.

The relief materials were food items, clothing, mosquito nets, bedding and blankets.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM OFFICE OF REGISTRAR, BENUE STATE UNIVERSITY.



This is to inform all Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates who applied for admission into the Benue State University, Makurdi for the 2017/2018 Academic Session that candidates who scored 180 points and above in the UTME are eligible to participate in the Post UTME exercise of the University. Registration begins from Tuesday, 12th September, 2017 to Thursday, 21st September, 2017. The procedure for payment and registration for the Post UTME exercise is as follows:
Candidates shall be required to pay a non-refundable Post UTME registration fee of two thousand, five hundred naira (N2,500.00) only. After which they should proceed to do the following:
- Visit www.bsum.edu.ng

- Click on E-Payment to open the E-Payment page
- Select Programme, Payment category as
"POST UTME APPLICATION"
- Type in the UTME Registration number,
- Select Session as “2017/2018”
- Select “Session” under semester field
- Click on “Generate payment reference” button to generate reference number
- Click on “click to proceed” link at the bottom of the page to access three (3) payment options as follows:
(I) For On-line payments using Mastercard, VISA and Verve Cards;
Click on the “Pay Online” button, you will be taken to Interswitch Payment Page. From the drop down below the page, select you card type and enter the requested information to make Payment. Once your payment is completed successfully, a receipt will be issued and you can continue with your application.
(II) For cash payments at Bank; Visit any of the following Bank Branches nation- wide to make payment.
• Fidelity Bank Plc.
• Zenith Bank Plc.
• ECO Bank Plc.
• Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.
• Sterling Bank Plc.
• Diamond Bank Plc.
• First Bank of Nigeria Plc.
• United Bank for Africa Plc.
• Unity Bank Plc.
• Union Bank of Nigeria Plc.
• Skye Bank Plc.
Before proceeding to the bank, print your Payment Reference Number slip from the E-Payment Platform and take it to the bank. On receipt of cash from you, the Bank using “College Pay” will process your transaction and generate Payment Receipt for you.
(III) For payment at ATM terminals
Visit any ATM terminal with your ATM card and do the following:
• Select Quickteller from the ATM menu
• select pay bills
• Fill in the Payment reference Number generated from the E-Payment platform when you are requested to enter the Customer ID
• Fill in 04255101 when you are requested to enter the Payment Code
• Enter your GSM Number and complete the transaction.
After successfully completing the payment, return to the portal to login and print out your Payment Receipt
(IV) For payment using Quickteller from the Internet
Visit the Quickteller website www.quickteller .com/bsumwhile applicants for courses in the College of Health Sciences should visit www.quickteller .com/chsbsuto complete their transaction.
 Enter your Registration number
 Enter your email and mobile number and click "continue"
 Follow the instructions on the screen to complete your payment
 Print out the payment confirmation slip
 Return to the portal and print out a payment receipt.
Note: This payment option attracts additional N100.00
B: Registration
After payment, candidates are expected to revisit the University website www.bsum.edu.ngand now select “Post UTME/DE” under “Applications” on the “Portal” section left of the University website. Once on the page, candidates are to follow the steps below to complete their registration:
i. Enter your UTME Registration number and click “Verify” button to log in. Register and upload credentials online for the Post-UTME exercise.
ii. Click on “My Bio Data” link to complete your Biodata.
iii. Click on “Upload Documents” link to upload the following documents:
a. WAEC/NECO/NABTEB Certificates or statement of results (not online slips).
b. Birth Certificate/Declaration of age.
c. Marriage certificate/affidavits.
d. Certificate of State Origin.
e. JAMB Result slip.
iv. Click on “Acknowledgement Slip” link to print and submit to Faculty Officer of your faculty for signing and documentation.
v. Candidates are expected to present the AcknowledgementSlip on day of Post UTME.
All candidates who applied for Law but scored between 180 and 199 are to take their PUTME in Faculty of Arts, while candidates who applied for Medicine and Surgery but scored between 180 and 199 are to take their PUTME along with Anatomy, Physiology and Faculty of Science.
The date for the Post UTME exercise shall be communicated to candidates after registration.

Forbes, the world renowned organisation for ranking of rich individuals, has released the list of richest people in Nigeria for 2017.
The ranking issued today shows Aliko Dangote retaining his spot as number one.

1. Aliko Dangote: Aliko Dangote is the richest man in Nigeria, Africa and of course the richest black man in the world. In 2014, he ranked as the 24th richest man in the world but has since then fallen to positions below 100 due to Nigeria’s poor Naira.
Net Worth: $12.5 billion.

2. Mike Adenuga: Mike Adenuga is the second richest man in Nigeria with interest in Oil and Gas and telecoms. He is the owner of Globacom, Nigeria’s second biggest telecom operators and the chairman of Conoil.

The Zambia national team has arrived from Algeria where they beat Desert Foxes 1-0 on Tuesday night to bolster their chances of qualifying for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Sports Minister Moses Mawere who accompanied to Constantine with FAZ president Andrew Kamanga were aboard the chartered Rwanda Air flight that touched down at 12:40 hours at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport.

Cameroun and Algeria have crashed out of the race and will be playing for pride in the remaining two fixtures.

The vice president, professor Yemi osibanjo has visited Benue state to access the extend of damage caused by the recent flood in makurdi.
He was received at the airport by the state Governor, Samuel Ortom.

NEMA gives relief materials to victims of flood in Benue



Succour has come the way of the victims of the recent flood in Benue state as NEMA has arrived the state with assorted relief materials.
The materials included matrasses, detergents etc.

Baring any last minute change of mind, President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Nigeria on Monday, September 4, 2017 for a trip to Washington, DC. Buhari’s trip to the US is at the invitation of President Donald Trump. A Nigerian Presidency source said thatTrump had extended the invitation last February, shortly after he was sworn in.

APC Chairman hosts ward chairmen


The Chairman of the All Progressive Congress( APC) in Konshisha, Hon Wende Anula today hosted the eleven ward chairmen of the party in TSEAGBERAGBA.
Addressing the ward party chairmen, Hon Gbaden told them that it has become necessary to hold the meeting in order to brief them on the outcome of the expanded caucus meeting of the party which was hosted by the new chairman, Hon Mrs. Mwuese Ubebe.
According to Hon Gbaden, the caucus meeting was important because it was the first to be convened by the new chairman and significantly  attended by Our distinguished senator Barnabas A Gemade, Hon Richard Ujege, Hon Saawuan Tarnongu, amongst other appointees of Governor Samuel Ortom.
Hon Gbaden also told them that the essence of the meeting  was to tell them what their representatives said at the meeting so that they can carry the message to their council wards. Hon Gbaden emphasized the need for unity of purpose amongst party men .He urged them to continue to support Governor Samuel ORTOM, Barnabas Gemade , Hon Richard ujege, Hon Saawuan Tarnongo and Hon Mrs Ubebe so that they will be able to deliver on their mandate.
In their various responses, the Ward chairman of mbake,Mr Aondowase songo, Mr Adam Jonathan of Mbatsen,Ukpum Numbe of Mbakyase,Mr Tor Bem of Mbatser/ Mbagusa,Mr Pius Iorbee of Mbavaa, the Party's youth leader, James Akuve and the party sectary, Mr Denen I or commended the party chairman for holding the meeting to brief them.They urged to continue with such meetings. They promised to continue supporting all their elected sons and daughters,now and in 2019.
The ward chairmen told Hon Gbaden to convey their grievances to the council chairman ,Sen. Barnabas Gemade, Hon Ujege and others.
According to them their grievances in include:
Lack of local government patronage,
2.Neglect of their welfare
3.Abandonment after elections, etc.
In his speech, the representative of the council chairman at the meeting, and Deputy chairman, Hon Aondover Diogo,commended the ward chairmen for their resilience and continued support to the party. He promised to convey their grievances to the council chairman.
